Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters announced

Warner Bros. and DC today announced an action-adventure video game based on the upcoming Green Lantern movie. The game will be available for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and DS.

Warner Bros. and DC today announced an action-adventure video game based on the upcoming Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds. The game will be available for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and DS.

The game’s full title is Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters. Details are still on the scarce side but the press release does mention “over a dozen constructs”, so of course we’ll get to play with the awesomeness that is Hal Jordan’s power ring.

“Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters gives players the chance to experience the world of the Green Lantern mythology in an interactive way, going beyond the events of the film and comic books,” said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

“The game is the first to centre around DC Comics’ Green Lantern franchise and we’re excited to give fans the opportunity to experience the power of the ring with engaging gameplay.”

The home console versions are being developed by Double Helix. Griptonite Games is responsible for the DS version. Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters will be release in Summer 2011 alongside the movie.
