People may go for smaller and smaller gadgets these days, but in terms of hard drive space, most still adhere to the “bigger is better” adage. Microsoft has pumped up their Xbox 360s with injections of 250GB hard drives, but according to Aaron Greenberg, gamers will have to spring for limited edition bundles if they want those hard drives for their machines.

The Xbox 360 and Xbox Live Product Manager recently told Joystiq that they currently have no plans to offer 250GB Xbox 360 hard drives outside of their special edition bundles.

“We did it with the Modern Warfare bundle, which, as people know, was a huge success, completely sold out,” he said. “We’re excited to bring it back with the limited edition Final Fantasy bundle.”

“We’re always evaluating,” he continued, “but for now we feel like the 120 is serving us very well as the standard offering, and then having the 250 as a limited edition is a good balance.”

Greenberg noted that most of Xbox Live services such as Netflix, Facebook, Twitter, and even the Zune Video Marketplace don’t require large amounts of drive space. He did concede, however, that game demos and a lot of add-on content do take up space, so we may yet see official hard drives with bigger capacities on the market.
