Yep, it was originally called Metal Gear Solid 5: Peace Walker. Kojima Productions’ PR manager Jiro Oishi, who posted the above image in his column on the KojiPro blog, explains that Peace Walker was envisioned to be MGS 5 from the start. The number may be gone, but Oishi believes that the game’s content is at the highest level of the series’ numbered titles.

So now we know for sure which game the “5” that appeared in the pre-E3 teaser meant.
