Guild Wars – Two New Games A Year

Today the VGM Daily Podcast, hosted by Ryan Maule and Tony Tomas, revealed some interesting information in their half-hour long interview with Jeff Strain, co-founder of ArenaNet (the creators of Guild Wars). It has been said that the game will be given two new installments a year, each retaining its no subscription fee policy. Each game will be in development for one year and more than likely be sold for the full price of a game.

Strain also reveals some information about his risky scheme of not charging customers per month. “We’ll make lots of money off of each customer, but have a lot more customers than a standard [fee-based] MMO.” This is all a part of the company’s efforts to introduced the magic of online gaming to a much wider audience.

Guild Wars: Fractions will be released Friday, April 28th and will mark the beginning of many more Guild Wars games to come.
