Guinness Book of Gaming Records anoints Lara Croft
Lara Croft had dared to go where no man had gone before, and has now received the reward for her trouble: an anointing by the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition. Exactly what honors has the famed book bestowed upon the Eidos Interactive‘s famous local and fabulously female British aristocrat?Find out after the jump.
This isn’t the first time that Lara Croft has received honor in the Guinness Book of Records Gamer’s Edition. Last 2006, the female adventurer earned the title of “most successful human video game heroine.” This year, Guinness anoints Lara Croft with a double-page spread.
What’s in it? Lots of tips, trivia and information about everything Lara Croft, including the Tomb Raider series of games and motion pictures. One interesting entry is that of the fastest Tomb Raider completion time – the award goes to a certain Stacy Corron who finished the original game in only 2 hours, 39 minutes and 30 seconds.
Also in the tribute are other goodies, such as the directions to a hidden treasure room in the now classic Tomb Raider 2 and Toby Gard’s famous line “mouse slipped, honest, Gov!” – referring to designing the finer proportions of our favorite heroine. Oh, and speaking of which, she was originally meant to be named Laura Cruz to appeal to a wider US audience. Thankfully, her current name stuck.
