Guitar Hero II 360 controller is NOT wireless

WIRELESS NOT INCLUDED. MAY CAUSE CRAMPS TO STYLE.

Some people aren’t going to like being tethered by this bit of news, and we’re sad to have to deliver the announcement that unlike its PS2 counterpart, the Gibson X-plorer-esque exclusive Xbox 360 guitar controller for RedOctane‘s Guitar Hero II will NOT be wireless, as GamePro has learned. This news ofcourse raises the obvious question: why?

GamePro posed this qustion to the game makers, and the answer they is because Microsoft has been unwilling to share the 360’s 2.4GHz wireless protocol. According to RedOctane executive producer John Tam, “Have you seen a third-party wireless controller? That’s Microsoft’s protocol” and he goes on to explain that this protocol has not been made available to third parties yet. So, for the meantime, the guitar coming for the 360 will be wired.

They have already requested for the protocol to be provided to them, but until the boys at Microsoft does that, we’ll al have to make do with a wired guitar controller.

For the meantime, let’s hope it’s got a long cable.
