Hack(ish): Play PS2 backups on your PS3
An intrepid gamer who goes by the handle “pizzag” in the afterdawn forums claims he has stumbled upon a means for PlayStation 3 owners to play backup PS2 games on their big black console.
Pizzag clams that around US$ 5 was spent, and that the process that he went through was quite easy for him. Of course, in this case “easy” means breaking open your PS3, voiding whatever warranty you’ve got with Sony. “Easy” also means engaging in some soldering, which could lead to a less-than-functional PS3.
We can’t give you the detailed process, for obvious law-based reasons. However, the fact that it is now possible, makes this newsworthy and quite necessary to note … for the same obvious reasons.
