Half-Life 2 for Xbox 360 and PS3?

Will an old Valve favorite show up on next gen consoles?

Both EBGames.com and Gamestop.com, which are actually the same after a recent merger, list an Xbox 360 version and a PlayStation 3 version of Half-Life 2 with a release date of 2/5/2007. Yes, that’s obviously a bit off, but how often do release dates come and go with no game in sight?

Over at Video Game Generation, the gang even created this mock box art in honor of the rumor.

Of course, there’s no confirmation whether or not a game is forthcoming. But sometimes retailers unofficially announce new games long before publishers make it official. 

For what it’s worth, Half-Life 2 has already been ported to the original Xbox, and retails for $19.99.

We’ve been hoping for this one awhile, since first reporting on Half-Life 2 and several other rumored games possibly coming to the PS3.  So, keep your fingers crossed.
