Halo Wars lead designer says Strategic Options DLC is not unlock code
Robot Entertainment has been getting some flak recently for supposedly releasing unlocks instead of actual new content for Halo Wars. The Strategic Options DLC’s small file size (2MB) led to the unlock accusation. The usual story, really. Dave Pottinger, the game’s lead designer, however, says it ain’t so.
Robot Entertainment has been getting some flak recently for supposedly releasing unlocks instead of actual new content for Halo Wars. The Strategic Options DLC’s small file size (2MB) led to the unlock accusation. The usual story, really.
Dave Pottinger, The game’s lead designer, however, has fired back against the accusations. On the official Halo Wars forum, Pottinger posted this message:
None of the DLC was on the disc when it shipped. The game modes are a small download because they are rules. There is some new content, but it’s obviously a different type of content compared to a map. Also, the recent patch added a bunch of missing support/engine groundwork for both DLCs.
The Strategic Options DLC contains three new game modes and is priced at 800 MS Points.
