Harmonix fires back at Konami over Rock Band lawsuit
A lot of people were stunned when Konami filed a lawsuit against Harmonix recently. Apparently, the Rock Band (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii) devs are among those surprised too. Nevertheless, they kept their cool and issued a statement in response. Details in the full article.
Konami recently made headlines when it surprisingly sued Harmonix over patent issues involving the music and rhythm game Rock Band (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii). Konami claims that Harmonix violated its patents on musical instrument-inspired controllers, forcing the latter to issue a public response.
A spokesperson for Harmonix said:
Konami’s actions are extremely surprising. Unfortunately, successful products such as Rock Band can often become targets for baseless litigation, We have substantial defenses to this claim and intend to vigorously defend it.
Looks like both are willing to play some legal hardball over this issue. We’ll keep you updated as more news hits the streets.
