Heavy Rain Press Event exposed

Heavy Rain - Image 1Unfortunately, not everyone got an invite to the Heavy Rain Press Event held last month at Quantic Dream‘s office. While it would have been über cool to have been there ourselves, we’ll just have to be content with Guillaume de Fondaumiere’s blog update about it. Unfortunately, not everyone got an invite to the Heavy Rain Press Event held last month at Quantic Dream‘s office. While it would have been über cool to have been there ourselves, we’ll just have to be content with Guillaume de Fondaumiere’s blog update about it. He’s co-CEO at Quantic, and plays Executive Prod for the origami killer game.

Anyhoo, he did a really good job making us feel even more sorry that we weren’t there at the said press event. They actually toured the (roughly) 35 journalists in their studio, as well as welcomed them in their motion capture studio. Now that, I’d want to see.

The lucky 35 were audience to the complete production process, all the way from game design, concept art, to the final integration of elements for one real-time scene. In all, it lasted two hours, but am sure that must have been one of the most fascinating two hours ever.

Even more interesting is how the guests themselves had a hand at 3D character creation, doing Virtual Actor performance under the direction of David Cage himself. That guy is so hands-on, no wonder the game’s looking great.

In fact, de Foundaumiere attests to that, fondly speaking of Cage as such:

I think the most fascinating aspect of Heavy Rain is the fact that more than 250 people are contributing to its making, all of which are under the artistic supervision of David Cage. His attention to detail is fascinating… I am sitting in the back of our studio while he is passionately talking about our project. More than anyone else int he team, Heavy Rain is his baby. For the past two and a half years, I can clearly feel how proud he is to show how his vision is coming to life.

We’re hoping to hear – and see – more of Heavy Rain real soon, so just keep it locked here for more updates.
