Hideo Teramoto on Ridge Racer 7

Reiko from Ridge Racer

Gamasutra recently had an interview with Hideo Teramoto, Ridge Racer 7 designer. Let’s take a look at what he has to say.

First off, PS3 issues. He says that Ridge Racer 7 is running at 60 frames per second at 1080p, to fit the “PS3 standard”. Of course, adhering to the PS3 standard takes some time to get used to, as Hideo-san says it’s a new piece of hardware. But eventually, they got the hang of it, which is a good thing, as we’re going to see Riiiiiiiidge Racer in its full glory.

Also, Hideo says that they learned quite a lot with their new PS3 experience, so making more PS3 games should be easier in the future. He adds that releasing games quickly has become a trend lately, so maybe we’ll see more Namco Bandai games for the PS3. And knowing that Hideo and his team are such “hardware nerds” (he says so in the interview), then that might be actually possible. Sweeeeet…

On a lighter note, he says that he’s quite happy with the “Riiiiiiiiiidge Racer! thing”. Hmmm… sounds like there’s nothing more rewarding for a dev than to know a lot of people are happy with your work. And we sure are happy that we can count on Mr. Hideo and his team to deliver such wicked Ridge Racer games.

Oh, and regarding the Reiko model rumor, he says that her ever-changing face is not modeled after one of the male producers in the game. In fact, she’s pain-stakingly done by the same guy, who tries to keep up with the rapid technological advances.

So that’s it folks! Stay tuned here for your daily dose of Ridge Racer news and updates!
