Hirai gets makeover as he replaces Kutaragi
You’ve probably heard that Kazuo Hirai has been tapped by Sony Computer Entertainment to fill in the CEO post vacated by Ken Kutaragi. Wired pointed an interesting analysis regarding the physical transformation of the Japanese Sony bigwig.
Hirai originally left Japan to lead Sony Computer Entertainment America. During his stint as SCEA boss, he went by the Americanized nickname “Kaz” and had a makeover to make his look more cohesive to western business environments. It worked well and Sony’s U.S. division flourished under his guidance.
Now he’s headed back home with even greater responsibilities. Along with the move in location, Hirai has adopted his authentic Nippon look again and is set to steer the business into brighter days.
