Hirai: PS3 will hold its own against lower-priced consoles
Sony has stated before that they won’t be giving their PlayStation 3 console a price cut, but president Kazuo Hirai has expressed confidence that the console will still hold its own against its lower-priced rivals. More from Kaz after the jump.
Sony has stated before that they won’t be giving their PlayStation 3 console a price cut, but president Kazuo Hirai has expressed confidence that the console will still hold its own against its lower-priced rivals.
“When you really compare apples to apples, then I think we have a very good value proposition,” he told the Financial Times, pointing out the PS3’s hard drive and Blu-ray movies as advantages over its rival consoles.
Hirai also told the FT that despite the economic slump, the video game industry won’t be affected too much. “As long as we can generate excitement, then we will be less affected than other industries,” said Hirai. Sony’s big hitters for the holiday season include Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet.
