Hironobu Takeshita reveals new Zack and Wiki details
IGN recently ran an interview with producer Hironobu Takeshita of Capcom‘s upcoming Zack & Wiki game for the Nintendo Wii and the producer dropped some hints as to how the game plays and how the Wiimote controls the game’s protagonist.
According to Hironobu, there will be seven different landscapes where players will take the adventure to. There’s Jungle Ruins, Lava Cavern, Ice Temple and several others which will offer a distinct experience and a different play style each.
If you’re curious on how the Wiimote will figure into all of this, Hironobu explains that basic movements will be employed all throughout but each gesture with the Wiimote has a different result for every corresponding item. Depending on what location you’re in, what puzzle you’re solving and what item you’re holding, the motions of the Wiimote will yield a different result.
Hironobu also expressed a sense of pride in how Zack and Wiki looks with the Wii hardware. “We pursued good overall graphic consistency,” he says. “Recently, as hardware performance has improved, game graphics have become more detailed.”
Interestingly, Hironobu was asked by IGN whether the Wiimote worked better if it was pointed to the TV screen. “Sometimes it’s better to point the Wii Remote at the TV and sometimes it’s not,” answers the Capcom producer. “In each event, a hint will appear telling you how to hold the remote. If you pay attention to these hints, there should be no problem.”
