Hollywood Studios still not in on video download service for PS3?
Sony Entertainment’s head honcho Kazuo Hirai made huge waves (tsunamis!) a few days ago when he finally unveiled details of the video download service for the PlayStation 3. Unfortunately, word is that Hollywood studios still aren’t in on Kaz’s plans. Story in the full article.
PlayStation 3 gamers gave a collective woot! this week when Sony finally unveiled details on the upcoming video download service coming this Summer. Unfortunately, there may be a possibility that once the service launch, the selection of movies to download may be limited, if this piece of news turns out to be true.
According to some Hollywood insiders, it seems that a lot of studios still don’t have deals in place to offer their movies on the download service. In fact, only Sony Pictures is believed to be the only studio that’s confirmed to be on board. Not that that’s a small thing – Sony’s Entertainment Group has a lot of media titles under its belt.
Still, if these insiders are to be believed, it may take some time before we see the library expand. PSP gamers may also find themselves a little unsettled with this news as the video service will include PS3-to-PSP interactivity. At any rate, it won’t be surprising if we hear more on this when E3 finally hits.
