Now here’s something that would make many a Wii homebrew gamer’s life a bit easier. If you are not familiar yet with teknecal‘s Homebrew Browser, it’s a pretty nifty Wii application that lets you check out and download the latest ‘brew without any need for downloading from the PC, or even taking the SD card out. How cool is that? Homebrew Browser definitely lives up to its name.
This particular version has a few bugfixes thrown in. Here’s what teknecal has to say about what’s new in this current release:
Small bugfix, downloading Raytracer, Wiiwhiteboard, etc should now work
Not only can you download and try out homebrew with the Homebrew Browser, you can also manage them by updating, deleting homebrew applications/games that you don’t like anymore all within the same program.
To get the Homebrew Browser up and running, just boot up the ELF file included in the download using your preferred method of starting homebrew. You can navigate through the browser’s GUI by using the Wiimote and IR.
If you already have previous homebrew installed in your Wii that is also available through the Homebrew Browser, you may notice some colored indicators marking them. The indicators are pretty useful themselves: a green-colored tick indicates that you have the latest version of the program, while a blue tick says otherwise.
Do take note, however, that the Homebrew Browser does not have all of the applications and games as of the moment, but will be eventually added over time. You can check out the list of homebrew available through the Homebrew Browser in Via link.
In the meantime, you can download the application below. Do go over the readme file before installing the Homebrew Browser to avoid any complications from arising. In the meantime, watch the video of the program in action:
