dChan has sent us an email announcing the release of his first program for the PSP, cWatch v1.00. cWatch is actually a portable speedsolving timer, wherein the goal is to solve a Rubik’s cube or similar puzzle in the littlest time possible. That certainly brings the challenge upfront, doesn’t it?
Not only can you hone your puzzle-solving skills further, but you may also keep a record of it by saving your best times, in as much as three different categories. What’s more, it actually mimics the StackMat Competition Timer. This system necessitates that you push both the L and R button shoulders at the same time to make sure that you’re not touching the puzzle before the timer starts ticking. No cheats for this game, guys!
Anyways, the bugs known so far are the following:
- Displays “New Personal Record” while timer is still active instead of after timer is stopped. This seems to slow down the timer very slightly.
- Sometimes the program requires you to hold down a button before it recognizes it(in the Menu).
- Not relevant to the main program, but the music that plays while in the credits mode stutters when changing the text on screen.
Also, be sure to be on the lookout for future versions of cWatch as dChan certainly has more improvements up his sleeves for this homebrew game:
- A scramble generator for the 3x3x3 Rubik’s Cube
- Option for 15-second inspection time
- Ability to take an average of 12 and to save your best average
Thanks to dChan for tipping us on this brainy program, and for you guys out there, make sure to check out the readme for installation instructions and other important details.
