Developer brakken during his lecture at the 24C3 - Image 1If you’ve already seen the video, then you should have no trouble recognizing Wii homebrew developer Brushing. Made famous with his recent talk during the recent 24th Chaos Communication Congress (24C3), he sits down and talks about his recent experience and the future plans he has in terms of unlocking the Wii code even further.

He mentions that his role as speaker during the conference was an impromptu thing more than anything. Having just recently pieced together a working demo of his lecture, fellow homebrew developers Mist and tmbinc asked him to present his findings during the event.

He admitted, however, that he merely unlocked the tip of the iceberg, so to speak. And that he still has a lot of plans in store for the next gen console. Here’s an excerpt of his plans after his presentation:

The solution we found is still not very clean – we intend to release a good solution, but it’s going to take some time to do it right. I mostly wanted to show a proof of concept, that it could be done, and hopefully give people some ideas that they could pursue on their own. The immediate next goal is getting something like SDLoad working so that I can stop killing plastic trees — after that, it’d be neat to have, say, a Linux Channel.

Brushing also mentioned that he will be holding off his findings for a little longer until he’s able to find a more permanent solution in unlocking the rather “hacky” code the Wii has. Until then, we’ll just have to keep our eyes and our eyes open for any more developments from “teh Wii Exploit Author”.
