Hori releases two PS3 arcade controllers
Looks like fans of the joystick style of playing fighting games will finally be in their element once Tekken and Virtua Fighter 5 come out for the PlayStation 3. Hori Corp. Japan will be coming out with two different arcade-style controllers for use with Sony’s new console.
The two controllers, as you see above, are the Hori Fighting Stick 3 (left) and the Hori Real Arcade Pro 3. They’re heavy-duty arcade workhorses, capable of playing through the toughest arcade games. Best of all, they plug in through USB.
Even if they both carry all the functions of your standard SIXAXIS controller, including the L3 and R3 commands, the Arcade Pro 3 is somewhat higher-priced. We’re currently unsure of the differences between the two, as the site describes the Arcade Pro 3 as adopting “those which are equal to the part which is used for the lever and the principal button part at the arcade actualizes the operation impression of not being different from the real thing.” Yep, that’s some wacky Japanese translation there.
Of course, if the cheaper one lets you win just as easily as the more expensive one, then you might as well get the Fighting Stick, right? Wait for word of imports to come out in January. For now though, you can think about saving Â¥5,299 (US$ 45) and Â¥8,379 (US$ 71) for Hori’s Fighting Stick 3 and Real Arcade Pro 3, respectively.
