HTC MTeoR Hits Europe
This month, Europe was hit by the HTC MteoR, which the company claims to be the world’s first 3G Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone. The slim and compact Universal Mobile Telecomms System (UMTS) features:
- Instant access to emails, calendar and contacts.
- Viewing Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF documents on the go,
- Sync with your PC to get video, music and pictures for playback
- Advanced connectivity and portability (including Micro SD memory)
- Built-in Bluetooth
- Single-hand controlled jog-wheel for user friendly navigation
Enuff of the brochure talk and let’s eaves drop on what consumers think of this thing. The HTC MTeoR mostly got thumbs up but one American consumer did raise a valid point. He says the unit does not support 850-band on GSM and the 850/1900-bands on UMTS/HSDPA. This means it will only work in Europe or for T-Mobile subscribers in the US. If you’re on the wrong continent or not with T-Mobile, “this phone is really useless!”
We don’t know how to respond to that but Mobility Today will interview the marketing director for HTC America next week and hopefully they get to ask that question.
