Improved Experience for New Players of Ryzom

Some changes have been made to the multiplayer game Ryzom that promise to improve a new player’s initial experience. Currently, the “newbie land” consists of four separate islands. These have now been combined into one island that will be shared by all races. This new, larger island will have at least three different environments (forest, lake and jungle). New players will still originate from a camp from where they will explore their environment before commencing the one-way journey to the mainland.

This new island will have several kinds of mobs and themes, with each one corresponding to its own level. Zones are actual locations, not regions. A zone corresponding to levels 11-15 would consist of towns destroyed by swarming Kitins, while on the next four levels, the player will interact with the Goo. The highest levels, above 40, will be populated by Kitins.

Generally, the new island will contain a bit of everything, so the newbie gets an idea of all the different aspects of the game.
