In WoW memoriam, StarCraft: Ghost
Here’s an interesting find in the World of Warcraft Forums. One curious player named Caiden started a thread about the mysterious shrine located in a semi-out of the way place in Netherstorm, asking what it was for. Of course, a number of players ventured some guesses as to what the futuristic blue shrine in the middle of nowhere.
The other answers were interesting, though the best came from Blizzard poster Drysc, who chose to reply with lines from the song “Dust in the Wind”:
Rest in peace Nova…
I close my eyes
Only for a moment, then the moment’s gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind…
/tear
So who’s Nova? A dearly departed Blizzard employee? One of the developer’s friends? Well, as it turns out, it’s in reference to the heroine from StarCraft: Ghost. The title’s development has been “indefinitely postponed” so we can probably put it on the vaporware category. It’s good though that Blizzard found that it deserved a memorial.
A lot of people have been waiting for StarCraft: Ghost and we’ll keep our fingers crossed that Rob Pardo does get to complete it someday. In the meantime, we hope Nova rests in peace.
