Infinite Undiscovery: New Details Revealed

infundiscoveryIt’s probably too early to come up with any conclusion about the new Tri-Ace Xbox 360 RPG called Infinite Undiscovery, but we can’t help clearing out a few cobwebs to see what’s behind the 10-year old framework. Tri-Ace president Yoshiharu Gota has revealed to us what makes Infinite Undiscovery quite the unusual RPG in a Famitsu interview.

Why did it take too long for the game to be on the works? “I’ve thought about making it into a game many times in the past, but there were hardware limitations and other hurdles…This time, we thought that the Xbox 360 would be able to realize our plans,” says Gota.

The plans, according to Gota, has something to do with transforming RPGs from being burdensome work to being a game of real discovery. He says, “...the true nature of an RPG…the player acting out the role of a character in the virtual world of a game, enjoying the process of worrying and getting lost. I wanted to make a game that pulls on the excitement of a true RPG.”

To make it even more befuddling, Gota intentionally used the word “Undiscovery” which is a word that doesn’t exist in the English dictionary.

Discovery is a major key word for this game,” he explained. These discoveries will mostly be done offline, as it’s a standalone game. But the Xbox Live makes it tempting to create add-ons for the game. As yet, there’s no storyline but the mysterious temple in the Famitsu artwork should give us a hint of the main character’s goal.

Gota adds, “It’s possible that when you think you’ve finished a battle, there’ll already be an enemy approaching you right before your eyes.” A sign of seamless transition to battles, and something we can look forward to. The Tri-Ace guys remain mum on the release date and the game is currently just 30% on the development phase.
