Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith recently confirmed that Infinity Ward will be returning to the franchise next year in Call of Duty 6.

While previous reports of the next CoD title after Call of Duty: World at War have already been slated for 2009, it was only during the today's Activision Blizzard Analyst Day event that the participation of Infinity Ward as its developer was confirmed.

Griffith also mentioned that Activision will be following a "leapfrog strategy" of alternating developers for the next titles. No further details regarding CoD 6 were revealed, although the good news is that Call of Duty: World at War will soon be arriving for the many fans of the series. The fifth installment of the wartime FPS will be arriving on November 5 for the PlayStation3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii, and DS.
