Infinity Ward: Prestige Edition will be very limited, restricted to one run only

When the Prestige Edition of Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, and PC) showed up on UK retailer HMV‘s website, it quickly sold out. If that’s not enough indication of how limited this item is, Infinity Ward community manager Robert “fourzerotwo” Bowling says that it’s so limited, they won’t make more even if demand is high.

“We’ve already been asked by retailers to up the production numbers due to demand, which we immediately denied,” Bowlisng told IGN in a recent interview. “We decided from the beginning that we want this to be for the hardcore fans and early adopters. The fact that it is actually limited is one of the coolest parts, which is why we’ve individually numbered every copy.”

Bowling didn’t give out any specifics on exactly how many of these items will be made, but he did make it clear that there will be no second production runs. “It was important to us that this be a true collectors’ edition and as such, we do one run, and it’s finished. The Prestige Edition is NOT something you’re going to be seeing on the cheap 2 months after launch.”
