Infinity Ward: Wii can’t deliver the experience we aim for
In a time of high-definition graphics and consoles that can give PCs a run for their money, the Wii has stood out as the little console that could. In the face of developer Infinity Ward‘s drive for bigger and better cinematic gaming experiences, however, it’s the little console that couldn’t.
Not Wii graphics.
In a time of high-definition graphics and consoles that can give PCs a run for their money, the Wii has stood out as the little console that could. In the face of developer Infinity Ward‘s drive for bigger and better cinematic gaming experiences, however, it’s the little console that couldn’t.
Speaking to trade mag Develop, Infinity Ward’s Robert “fourzerotwo” Bowling candidly revealed that the Wii’s hardware just can’t deliver the kind of console power they’re looking for, hence the decision to stay out of Wii development.
“f we felt like we could deliver the cinematic experience we were going for on other platforms, then we would gladly move to that platform,” said Bowling. “Right now, we don’t think the Wii can deliver the exact experience that weÂ’re doing. We like to be very equal across all platforms, and if itÂ’s not equal then we wonÂ’t do it.”
So maybe when that Wii HD Pachter keeps talking about comes out then? It’s worth noting that Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is making an appearance on the Wii, however that version is being done by fellow Call of Duty series devs Treyarch.
