Infodise to become first independent Blu-ray manufacturer

Bli ray - Image 1European studios which seek to enter the Blu-ray format camp may soon find the task easier as German firm Infodise has revealed that it’s already taking in deliveries of BD-ROMs and will soon install the necessary equipment in order to become the first independent Blu-ray disc make in the world.

The move is a boon to Europe‘s next-generation format studios because the supply of discs will be more localized to make publishing faster and easier. The move already has the go-ahead from Sony.

At this point, only BD-25s will be manufactured by the firm, but Infodise and Sony are on the table to have BD-50s manufactured in Germany by the year’s end. Blu-ray leads the European next-gen player race thanks in large part to the release of the Sony PlayStation 3 game console in the region earlier in 2007.
