Initial features of PSP FW 3.60
PSP Fanboy got hold of a redesigned PlayStation Portable unit. So what now? Well, the good guys over at the said site tinkered around with it and learned a couple of very important things: the new handheld is running on FW 3.60 and it carries a USB charge function.
We guess we don’t have to explain that in detail to you guys. Aside from the already mentioned, there’s also a UMD Cache feature that will be used to increase the load speed of loaded video game UMDs.
In relation to the new video-out functionality, the new PSP unit also has a feature that allows users to change the type of TV that is connected to the handheld as well as settings for screensavers. PSP Fanboy connected their unit to a TV set and found that games are bordered, rendered at 480×272, and for progressive scan only.
Of course, we believe that FW 3.60 has a lot of other features that are yet to be announced and discovered. The most important among these for you, we believe, is how tough its security system is going to be. We have a feeling we’ll find out soon enough.
