Insomniac’s I-8/Resistance Gets A Final Name

Insomniac’s mysterious retro-futuristic first person shooter was first shown at E3 of 2005, there the trailer was buried under the mountain of hype and expectation that resulted from the spectacularly impressive, though ultimately misleading Killzone trailer. However, the game soon earned the distinction (along with WarHawk, Motorstorm, Eyedentify and Killing Day) of being one of the few trailers that actually appeared to be running in realtime. When the video was first shown the game was masquerading under the working title of I-8, we recently learned the game adopted the name Resistance, and today it looks like we finally have the full name of the game, Resistance: Fall Of Man.

What’s in a name? From the new subtitle (and existing trailers and screenshots) we can at least infer that there is some sort of invasion or attempt to subvert mankinds planetary domination going on, whether from hostile aliens or a new species (of human perhaps?) is unknown, but it’s fun to speculate. Insomniac’s track record on the Ratchet and Clank games of technical excellence and great gameplay promise a lot for this title. Hopefully we’ll see and hear more at this years E3 in May.
