Interactive comedy strip “The Act” from Cecropia now on location test

Help Edgar win the woman of his dreams: Sylvia - Image 1From a Massachusetts start-up game company Cecropia, comes this new concept of interactive story-telling in the form of a comedy. Entitled The Act, a short feature sporting Disney-like animation, quality and feel, the interactive “video game” is suddenly breaking milestones in a genre that was thought dead. Monkey Island, anyone?

The story of the game is pretty much centered on Edgar, you typical average Joe. He’s a window wiper, together with his brother Wally.

They start off their day like any other window wiper would, working on the windows of the buildings in the metropolis. When Wally gets too tired to work, that’s when all things start to go haywire. Former Disney animators have all contributed to the title, giving the old classic Disney finish to it.

The Act coin-operated cabinet - Image 1 Interaction in The Act is actually quite simple: you either turn a knob clockwise or counter-clockwise. One direction makes Edgar become more forward, confident and aggressive. The other direction makes him shy and passive.

Go too far left or far right could make Edgar way too uninteresting or way too foreboding for characters, and its up to the player to turn the know according to visual cues in the character.

The game itself is literally taking the casual gaming bracket by storm in little New England, but it seems even interesting to try from an avid gamer’s standpoint. Currently, the game is being sported on coin-op machines scattered throughout New England and the media are closely eyeing its success. We wish we had one of those to test out here.
