Interview with Loco Roco Director – Tsutomu Kouno

To round up their one week special on crazy Japanese games, 1UP has interviewed the one who thought up the idea for Loco Roco. This quirky game has been gaining great press since its unveiling at the Tokyo Game Show last September. Tsutomu Kouno, a designer of Ico, is a bit of an oddity. He is a Sony employee who sounds like he works for Nintendo. He talks in great detail of how games are now a bit too complicated for new gamers (Revolution/DS parallels) and how much he wanted to show expression in his character (The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker parallels). The interview does give some insight into how a man as creative as Tsutomu thinks as well as more about Loco Roco, including its out-of-this-world story!
