Introducing Rock Band’s USB dongle
If you’re going to be playing Harmonix‘s Rock Band when it comes out, then you know you’re going to need some heavy equipment and a lot of space. But what about USB ports? Well, if you’re packing two guitars, a microphone, and a drum kit, you know your Xbox 360 is going to come up a bit short, mostly because you’ve only got a total of three on the 360.
Well, 1Up had the good fortune of getting the Rock Band bundle early, and they’ve got a solution to that, which is the official USB dongle for the Rock Band rock-out system. It’s made by a company called ViPowER, and it looks like every USB Dongle you’ve ever seen before.
1Up was a bit put off by it though, as the dongle required an extra power socket to run, but had a short power cable to run it from. That, and ViPowER doesn’t seem to have a track record for their products readily available on the net. We suppose the dongle has its own set of problems, but at least it’s an obvious solution for the lack of USB ports on the Xbox 360.
In any case, you can view more pics of the dongle on 1Up’s webpage, as well as their thoughts on the dongle itself.
