Introversion, Encore tie up to bring DEFCON to US
Encore has announced a tie-up with publisher introversion to bring the multiplayer online strategy game DEFCON: Everybody Dies to U.S. store shelves in the following months.
50,000 copies are set to ship stateside from Europe. “We are happy to be working with the team at Introversion to bring such a unique and innovative game to retail. There is simply nothing else like it,” says Jill Griffin of Encore.
The RTS is unique in the sense that its gameplay promotes the killing of civilian targets rather than combat units. The strategy revolves around mounting a genocidal assault that will tear down the other camp’s populace and fending off counter-thrusts.
The game is acclaimed because it’s the most accurate simulation of WarGames in history. The low price point of .99 along with the straightforward yet intense action should warrant a purchase from strategy fans and casual gamers alike.
