Here’s a cool brew for your iPhone. TalkMe adds a text-to-speech function into your iPhone that’ll actually read your SMS messages aloud. Apple seems to have left this function for the jailbreak community to tinker with, and TalkMe is the answer to that problem, at least for SMS messages. It’ll read off your received messages, and you have the option to use different languages, and run the voice at a speed that you can set.
As far as listening to your SMS messages being read out, it’ll be handy in times you can’t bring your iPhone out to read your messages. Just hook it up with earphones and let your phone read your messages for you.
On a lighter note, my juvenile instincts once again found a toy-able app. I can already hear the TalkMe voice enunciating swear words and reading out my friends’ not-for-your-grandma language.
