After getting swarmed by a load of games last week, more came pouring into the App Store this week, and I daresay that this batch is better than last time. There’s a nice, free word game, a Star Trek shmup, and even an upcoming Eminem game. There are the usual free lite versions available, and some full versions come for free too!

Upcoming games:

Here come the trailers

  • After being released to devs last week, the much-awaited iPhone OS 3.0 beta 5 was released earlier this week, coupled with the release of iTunes 8.2 Pre-release 2 which it requires to install. Although no one knows the complete changelog, two things have been confirmed so far. One is that it hides the MMS messaging item on the settings menu, and the other is that the iTunes 8.2 Pre-release 2 update no longer allows the editing of carrier files, so there are no more tethering options. • Then boom. Just like that, merely hours after release, iPhone OS 3.0 beta gets jailbroken by the iPhone Dev-Team using the iPhone 3G. Apart from making short work of Apple’s latest update, the Dev-Team also said that unless Apple changes the iPhone’s hardware, nothing’s gonna stop them from jailbreaking the next OS. Link

Let’s not forget the homebrew!

  • Winnydows is back, and now the Winnydows Commander is now packed with a media player and a preview mode, making the app a full-fledged media center app. Link
