Is Mercenaries 2 really heading for the Xbox 360?

According to an enterprising conspiracy theory of sorts from 1Up, that may just be the case. We’re hoping it’s less of a theory and more of a very subtle hint for Microsoft‘s game community to notice and clamor for.

The latest entry in Pandemic Studios‘ video blogs is the main reason for this speculation. While the Pandemic team has mentioned considering the 360 as a platform for Mercenaries 2, they haven’t really done anything to prove it. However, gaming fans will notice possible hints in the video that they may actually be busier than we think.

The eager gaming fan will notice that their holiday-related video blog has some instances where an Xbox 360 is shown. There’s even a debug unit in the video and some scenes of people handling the 360 controller while talking to the camera. Whether or not that translates into an assurance of an Xbox 360 version of the game when it launches in 2007 is yet to be ascertained, but doing so would mean yet another PS3 exclusive giving way to the power of multiplatform economics.
