Is Nintendo Revolution Too Revolutionary for its Own Good?

Nintendo RevolutionAt least Pandemic Studios thinks so. The company is reluctant to produce games for the platform because that would require a totally different approach. Translation:  greater risk for the company with a smaller opportunity for sales and profit. The company would rather stick to the Xbox and the PS3 because they are relatively similar and it would be easier to produce a game that could be released on both platforms.

“We are very interested in making games for the Revolution,” said Pandemic Studio, “Games that are made for the Revolution will really have to be re-conceived for that platform and can’t simply be a port. While on the one hand that could mean fewer games for the Revolution, the games that do ship on the platform will probably be crafted with a lot more thought and care than would go into your average port. So yes, we are interested in developing entertainment for the Revolution – but only for the select group of games that really make sense.”

Unfortunately, Pandemic Studios(Full Spectrum Warrior, Star Wars Battle Front, Destroy All Humans) is not alone. Many have yet to be sold on the idea that Nintendo Revolution has what it takes.
