For those of us eagerly anticipating for more new about Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword, the stunningly-beautiful action game from Tecmo that’s headed for the Nintendo DS, here’s something that should get us through those sleepless nights of waiting: the game is halfway done, and the development is being handled by someone very capable. How capable? Capable enough to be lead programmer in Dead or Alive 4 and Ninja Gaiden.

These delicious bits of info comes from none other than Tomonobu Itagaki himself, in a recent interview that tackled everything about Ninja Gaiden making the jump from the console world to the portable realm. He says that the game is indeed 50% complete, and the people behind the game’s development are making sure to meet the standards set by fans spoiled by the series’ signature environments of unparalleled beauty.

He also mentions that even though Team Ninja is hard at work with Ninja Gaiden 2 as well, Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword is being treated with the same amount of hard work and dedication. With this coming from a lead programmer that’s single-handedly responsible for the fighting engines of Dead or Alive 4 and Ninja Gaiden, that’s saying a lot already.

Truly awesome news from Itagaki, and we can’t wait to get our hands on the title. Updates as we get them, and you can check out the complete interview for more data in the Read link below.
