Japan getting jumbo-sized DSi this year
Word out of Japan is that Nintendo has a new DSi iteration slated for release in the land of the rising sun later this year. There’s really nothing new about this particular DSi model — except for the fact that it’s bigger than those currently out in the market.
Word out of Japan is that Nintendo has a new DSi iteration slated for release in the land of the rising sun later this year. There’s really nothing new about this particular DSi model — except for the fact that it’s bigger than those currently out in the market.
According to a Nikkei report, the new DSi’s main feature will be a four-inch screen. The larger screen also translates to larger overall bulk. The jumbo-sized DSi will be three quarters of an inch larger than the current model, although the price will remain at the JPÂ¥ 18,900 (US$ 205) point.
Nintendo is reportedly targeting an older demographic with this new DSi, particularly those who like big buttons on cellphones and large print books. While a Japan release has been confirmed for this year, it remains to be seen if this hardware iteration will make it overseas.
