Japan hardware sales: DS back with a vengeance, PSP on third
After suffering a slump in sales for the whole of February and a few weeks in March, the DS is back on top in Japan, even topping its fellow Nintendo platform, the Wii. The PSP, which took top spot the previous week, is back on third place. Check out the figures in the full article.
Sales of the Nintendo DS in Japan have been suffering a slump since last month, and a few weeks into March. While the DS usually enjoyed its place on top, it found itself on third place for that period.
However, it seems that the handheld is making a strong comeback as it recently reclaimed its place on top of the charts. The DS tallied nearly 10,000 more in sales from last week’s sales when it sold 57,651 units (as compared to its recent 65,000 figure).
The Sony PSP, which enjoyed its time as Japan’s best selling platform last week, is now back on its usual spot on third place, where it was usually found before the DS suffered its slump. Here are the rest of the figures in Japan for the week ending on March 23:
- DS Lite – 65,055
- Wii – 62,404
- PSP – 59,833
- PS3 – 12,874
- PS2 – 9,990
- Xbox 360 – 1,407
