Japan: Mario Kart Wii zooms past million mark

Mario Kart Wii debuted in Japan three weeks ago, with sales exceeding half a million straight off the bat. Now on its third week out, Mario and the rest of the gang have made their way past the one-million mark, maintaining their lead over the competition.
Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, the only PSP title to hit the list, remains a close second, with lifetime sales at over 1.9 million copies. Besides Monster Hunter and the PlayStation 3 game Valkyria Chronicles, the chart is dominated by Wii and DS games.
Although the PSP topped hardware charts again this week, it’s the Wii who brought home the bacon. The Wii sold a total of 364,000 titles sold this week, whereas the PSP only sold 102,000. Here are the top 10 games in Japan for the week of May 4:
