Japan Weekly Sales (May 1st – May 7th)

After the delay due to Golden Week in Japan, we’re back on schedule for Japanese sales. This week didn’t see much change at all. Although it should be noted that the #1 ranked title from last year’s Golden Week would have been the only game to even break the top 10 this year. Software sales are high due to the unbelievable success of the DS!

NDS Tetris DS – 160,148 [378,247]
NDS Brain Training 2 – 112,392 [2,164,256]
PS2 World Soccer: Winning Eleven 10 – 100,860 [561,409]
NDS Brain Training – 84,075 [2,136,857]
NDS Animal Crossing: Wild World – 83,564 [2,645,481]
NDS Pokemon Ranger – 69,415 [496,834]
NDS English Training DS – 59,614 [998,343]
NDS Mario Kart DS – 37,037 [1,353,596]
GBA Mother 3 – 34,591 [291,428]
PS2 Dragon Quest: Yangus – 33,279 [215,237]

DS Lite – 161,010 [1,383,391]
PSP – 37,946 [3,403,835]
PS2 – 32,030 [22,299,001]
NDS – 24,428 [6,502,520]
GBA SP – 7,144 [15,624,650]
GBM – 3,830 [500,938]
X360 – 2,019 [116,410]
GCN – 1,460 [4,100,969]
GBA – 87 [??]
XBX – 44 [474,453]

Absolutely no new titles on the list, although I don’t think any new titles launched during Golden Week… The regular DS went down again for some reason. The supply situation there must be really wierd. It was at only 8k two weeks ago, then it reached 42k, and now it’s back down to 24k! Game Boy Micro used last week as the week it reached 500,000 units sold. Impressive for a product that was really meant as a temporary experiment.

Nintendo owns 8 of the top 10 software spots, 7 with the DS. Sony owns 2 of the top 10 slots with the PS2. Tetris DS is showing awesome legs, I’m pretty sure it’s doing better over there than in North America. No real milestones were reached, but English Training, Pokemon Ranger, and Tetris DS should have one next week! PSP should also reach the 3.5 million milestone soon.
