Japan: Xbox 360 outsells Wii, PlayStation 3 comes in last
Whoa, what was that? Did I just see a pig fly? According to the latest data from Enterbrain, the Xbox 360 outsold the PlayStation 3 and the Wii. Beating the PS3 on its home turf (again) was enough to give me a double take, but to outsell the Wii? In Japan? Nice job.

According to Enterbrain, the 360 dished out 28,681 units for the week of September 14. That’s a huge achievement (no pun intended), considering they only sold 843 units the previous week. There are now 717,275 Xbox 360 consoles in the wild in Japan.
So what happened? It seems that Microsoft released a new 60GB package for the console, replacing the 20GB model, and introduced a price cut of JPÂ¥ 5,000 (US$ 47), tagging the console at JPÂ¥ 29,800 (US$ 284).
The PlayStation 3 is now at last place – though it’s not the first time. The Xbox 360 beat it 2.5-to-1 for a week last August with the release of Tales of Vesperia. For the week of September 14, the PS3 sold only 8,050 units. The Wii sold 27,057 units.
