Japanese console sales – Feb 13 – 19

The Japanese console sales for the week Feb 13 – 19 just came in and the Nintendo DS is still out numbering the others. With the DS lite launching next week it’ll be interesting to see the sales of the past week. I’m sure the anticipation about the upcoming DS Lite from Japanese gamers will make them think twice when wanting to buy the orginal DS. We’ll also be interested to see how the original DS is performing in Japan after the launch of the DS lite. The DS Lite is scheduled for release on March 2 and, as we reported earlier, the multi-colored versions are delayed to March 11 due to a “wearing-off” problem. For some reason the GBASP is still very popular in Japan and has sold over 4 times more than Microsoft’s Xbox 360.
