Japanese DS Sales Reach 10 Million Units

dsBack in February, Nintendo reported that worldwide sales for the Nintendo DS has reached the 10 million mark. Five months and millions of DS units later, The Kyoto Shimbun reported that the Japanese sales for the handheld wonder crossed the 10 million mark – making the DS the fastest selling gaming machine in Japan.

This remarkable feat comes just 20 months after the DS was launched in Japan in December 2004. If you would recall, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata made a forecast earlier this year, saying the system will sell 10 million units “in the not-so-distant-future.” Well, what do you know, the man just made himself the Nostradamus of the gaming world.
