Japanese PS3 bundle won’t get HD cables
The bad thing about cables: both Japanese PS3 bundles will not be getting HD cables. The good thing about cables: your PS3 is now wireless.
Seriously though, we did mention earlier that, while there would be HDMI ports, Sony didn’t seem to hold themselves into having any commitment to the final set of accessories that will come with the American bundle of the PS3 (at least, that’s what the SCEA Corporate Communications person said).
This news came, of course, after an earlier article mentioned that there wouldn’t be any HDMI cables included. This left certain things rather confusing, so we just waited on some sort of final official word on whether we’d get free cables with our purchase.
Here’s an official word, though it’s Japan-based. Famitsu reports that the Japanese PS3 bundle will not be shipping out with HD cables for either version of the console. Instead, you get the standard composite type. This isn’t so bad for HDTV users that already have component or S-video cables, since you can use those in conjunction with the AV Multi-Out interface. If you’re not that techie, but you bought an HDTV, then expect to plunk down some extra cash if you want to see it in HDTV goodness.
For those of you who don’t own HDTVs, consider yourselves blessed. Just make sure your online connection is stable, and once you can find yourself a console, you’re good to go.
