Japanese Wii supply goes semi-normal

Wii - Image 1There are few places in the world where getting a Nintendo Wii game console is easy. In Japan, where it’s really hard to get a brand new unit, there are signs that relief is on the way as reports of normalizing numbers surface.

The word from Japan is that more Wiis are being released by Nintendo to brace the market for the impending release of Mario Party 8. There’s no official word from Nintendo as of yet, but such a move would make some real sense for both the business and the consumers.

Tokyo retailers have been spotted with the Wii on display. AsoBitCity and Sofmap are among the big stores which have them in stock. Retailers online have also been flogging brand new units at average prices.

The semi-normal supply has reportedly started since the 29th of July and is still going on. Those of you who want one may not be desperate enough to go to Japan, but at least there’s some hope that a time will come when we don’t have to wait in long lines only to be told hours later that the Wiis are sold out.
