Jon Stewart plays Wii Sports at the Academy Awards
The Wii goes to the Oscars! Jon Stewart, who is fond of inserting pop culture references in The Daily Show, recently hosted the 2008 Academy Awards. After one of the commercial breaks, the show continued with Stewart playing Wii Sports on the Oscar’s big screen. How much more popular could the Wii get? How about giving it a 20-second appearance at the Academy Awards? That’s how. After a commercial break, Jon Stewart – the host of this year’s Oscars – was seen playing Wii Sports on the show’s big screen display.
Stewart is fond of inserting pop culture references in The Daily Show, and if there was any signal needed to see how popular the Wii has actually gotten, this would probably be it. Not that this is industry news, but it’s still a hoot to see a console being played at the Oscars.
