Dog Days will switch player control from Kane to the psychopathic Lynch. The story has both men in Shanghai‘s dark and gritty underworld, described as “a juxtaposition of old-world and new-world ideals ripe with black market opportunities for Kane and Lynch to exploit and reap rewards from.”

In contrast to the offline-only co-op feature in the original, Dog Days will sport online co-op as well as competitive multiplayer. New gameplay features are still a mystery, although one bit that Kotaku found is that players shot to the ground will be able to keep shooting or crawl away towards safety.

Dog Days will also feature a introduce a new visual style inspired by documentary filmmakers. Based on the teaser trailers, that translates to “grainy surveillance camera shots”. The official press release mentions that every aspect of the game “has been designed to deliver a fresh perspective to the words ‘intensityÂ’ and ‘realismÂ’ in video games.”

Ooh, interesting. Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is currently slated for a 2010 release on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
